ART UPDATE: PARKS

It feels like a lot of city dwellers have talked about how they got more attached to their local parks over the last two years. And for good reason. Parks give you a place to go beyond the confines of your home and in SEED, meaningful time spent outside the home or work environment is also important.

So we checked in with our artists to see what they have in the works regarding parks. We showcase here some examples of work in progress. Very cool stuff. We caught up with our 3D artist Dusica Kosarac to find out more.

We asked Dusica what it was we’re looking at. ‘These are the first variations of park areas in the city. They are based on concepts from Joe Hurley and are trying to capture the feel of an organized futuristic society, maybe a bit too organized.’

Following on from this, we wondered if there were any technical implications or considerations you had to take into account?

“Since our game is going to be so vast and full of content we always need to keep track of our vertices and shading solutions because it adds up quickly. The minimalistic approach to our style supports that, and the challenge mostly comes from creating a visually coherent world.”

Currently parks function in the game as recreational areas, where Seedlings will go to relax and enjoy themselves outside of work hours.
